Civilization: Rise to Glory
Do you want to build a Civilization that can stand the test of time and reach for the stars? Do you want to destroy barbarians and seize your rivals’ resources? Do you want to host scientific icons and create great works of Art? If the answer is “yes” to any of those questions, then please join us to play a new Civilization board game (more details can be found at www.alaporte.net/civ). We’re looking for 3-5 players who are prepared to commit at least 4 hours (and up to 8 if you’re willing!). I’m hoping we’ll be able to play through the end (space race), but the game can be ended before then, with the players tallying up their Glory. The game has a lot of player interaction: bidding for technologies, paying royalties, trading resources, and of course war is possible (though it’s quite possible to play an entire game without any combat). The game also features leaders and wonders (of course), as well as icons of science and great works of art. And, just to spice things up, there are barbarian cities and random events (players can choose to avoid events). A one-page overview of the game can be found here: www.alaporte.net/civ A two-page overview of the main concepts can be found here: www.alaporte.net/civ/docs/CivGlory-Overview.pdf A two-page player aid that covers all the essentials can be found here: www.alaporte.net/civ/docs/CivGlory-Reference.pdf The rules can be found here, but they’re too long (they include a lot of examples and some repetition—I’ll spruce them up when play-testing is done and the rules are finalized): www.alaporte.net/civ/docs/CivGlory-Rules.pdf
